The Challenged Athletes Foundation was founded in 1997 in order to help athletes with physical challenges remain active in sport. They provide grants for training, racing, and equipment to their athletes, and one of their major goals is to be recognized in the movement of acceptance and respect of challenged athletes among their more able-bodied peers. CAF is doing an amazing job with raising awareness and money for their athletes, and their athletes have become some of the most revered, respected, and well-known in the nation. The millions that they have raised have allowed them to grow and support such athletes as Rudy Garcia Tollson, Sarah Reinertsen, CJ Howard, Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah, Willie Stewart, Marc Herremans, and David Rozelle among others. Between these handful of athletes they share many world records in swimming, running both on the road and track, and in the sport of triathlon. Aside from their amazing athletic performances, they all share their a common bond as they all truly embody the human spirit and are an inspiration to many. The Ryan family has been involved with CAF for many years, raising funds in their "Race for a Reason" program; competing at Tri California's Pacific Grove Triathlon, supporting Team Wildflower, and supporting CAF at Escape from Alcatraz. We are doing "Race for a Reason" again this year, as well as raising funds through the OC Blazeman triathlon in June. We encourage you to visit their site and hear the details of their story!
